I may not have mentioned but I am wheat free and as other types of grains can be higher in calories than wheat, I try to reduce my intake of them as well. I read that 2 slices of whole wheat bread can elevate your blood sugar more than a bag of M & M's can. However, not having wheat doesn't give me free-rein to eat gluten-free junk food.
My son has been moved out a week now and what a difference....no more stress eating....no more temptations....and best of all, I eat only when I'm absolutely hungry.....no grazing just because he is.
The Holidays don't frighten me as I make myself busy helping serve dinner at one of the many homeless shelters around town. I don't let awful childhood Christmas memories ruin the day for me.
To my American friends.....Happy Thanksgiving coming up next week. Try to prepare Grandma's old recipes in a low cal way and see if that helps.
Have a good time with family and those others that you love. Most of all, be grateful....that's good for you & doesn't add weight !!

I love your upbeat post. Sounds like you have found plenty to occupy your time. I agree young people can add stress, or just some folks can. Life is too short not to enjoy to the fullest. Each day is a new beginning. Thanks for the holiday blessings and I hope everything will continue to go well and your winter will be mild, but will probably be cold.

It sounds like you're enjoying your new lifestyle. I love your approach, taking time out to serve meals for others. Thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes. I hope you fill Christmas time with brand new memories that outweigh the past ones. I try to watch a Hallmark movie here and there to put me in the spirit. Trying to make healthy recipes is always my challenge each year but I think we're getting it together that way. More veggies and fruits to go with that Turkey. Fewer helpings of the glycemic index spikers.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
