Hi All! I'm new to the site, but am very excited to hear any advice I can get! I am 24 years old. Five foot nine and 160 pounds. Now I realize that I am in the "average" BMI scale, but sometimes I don't feel so "average". I often find that the second I step into a room, I find myself in constant comparison with everyone around me. My main goal is to reach a point where I feel CONFIDENT with myself and the way that I look. I am fairly consistent with going to the gym,but have absolutely no self- control when it comes to food. I normally eat healthy, but too often indulge in foods that aren't good for me, I LOVE sweets! I would love to hear any advice on tips to controlling what I eat. Thanks in advance!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

I'm not saying that everyone should eat sweets all the time. But some people try to cut everything they think is "bad" out of their diets, and what ends up happening is they become so restrictive....they will end up binging on that very thing.
Cut them out if you think you can stick with that. Or, if you know you want something sweet, eat a bit less food to make room for your treat.
Tools are very helpful in keeping the confidence level where it should be. I use myfitnesspal, and of course, the weekly weigh-in for accountability. I dole out the treats and try to stick to my designated sweet allotment. That way, I'm not feeling deprived, although, my next step is going to be not eat after 7 or 8 pm, depending on when dinner is finished. Tools can be so very satisfying in themselves. We choose what we want to use, and try them out. If they work, keep them. So glad you're here with us!
