Hey everyone,
I occasionally read the posts here because I am very interested in diet and nutrition, but I figured I'd go ahead and join. I am unable to exercise because I have a muscle disease.
I never cared much about my weight because it usually hovered around the same number. Sure, I wanted to lose a few pounds, but I've never thought I was too heavy. After I got sick (about 2 years ago), I couldn't move around as much. My muscles atrophied and I put on a lot more fat. I still think I looked alright, but I felt horrible, and I was definitely not healthy. I was put on prednisone for the disease, and realized if I weren't careful I would gain even more weight on that evil drug.
That was about a year ago, and since then I have been militant about what I put in my body. I've lost around 30lbs (unfortunately, some of that is muscle), and I feel great. I think the diet has really helped the symptoms of my disease, and the experience has really made me curious about nutrition.
So that's why I'm here! Right now I'm just trying to maintain the weight I am currently at, but overall I just enjoy reading others' experiences.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
What I did was find the simple activities that I already am able to do, and add to those, minute by minute, to where I was familiar with what my muscles are able to do.
I added some healthy foods to the diet menu plan, little by little, and this helps me feel better even on the "off" days.
Best wishes and welcome!
You certainly don't need frail bones and teeth on top of your other problems. My wife and I chew a couple of good tasting caramels that gives us plenty of calcium and vitamin D. Brand name is "Viactiv."
Prednisone is the worst. I started off on 60mg about a year ago, have since tapered to 5mg. It has been so up and down-- I literally went through psychosis. I don't wish that drug on ANYONE!
I think getting back into exercising will just have to be a slow process. It is hard to convince yourself you can do that when you've felt immobile or even breakable before. I haven't been able to run in so long... ahh!
Losing weight has been so nice though, because when you are weak who wants to carry around extra pounds?
Anyways if you want more information let me know, I dont want to push anything on anyone, I just use it myself and LOVE it!!
