Here's a link to a site that has several recipes for chocolate cake without as many calories and fat. Most of the recipes have less than 250 calories.

The trick for me is that I can't cut the good stuff out entirely. Doing so makes dieting more of a pain in the butt, rather than a lifestyle change. And if you hate your diet, you're probably not going to stick to it. instead, I try to find food options within my calorie budget that still allow me to have some of the things I like. For example, the 100 calorie snack packs of oreo crisps are actually pretty good, and low on the calorie scale. Chocolate slim fast shakes are also good because of their nutritional base, protein, and appetite control.
Another option for you to look into: protein bars. Luna, Balance Bars, Slim fast bars, Clif Bars... all these have an element of sweetness to them that help satisfy my cravings. Some have more calories than others, though, so be sure to read the label and check out how much protein/carbs/fat you're consuming. If you're going to consume 250 calories, at least do so with a lot of protein to help keep you fuller longer.
Hope that helps...
You can do it if you give yourself a chance. I assume you wrote this thread looking for advice and support. There is plenty of that here but you are the one that has to apply it to your life.
I reiterate-fruit is a wonderful substitution for sugar and there are so many different fruits to enjoy.
I also remember hearing somewhere that if you crave lots of sugar, it may mean that you are not getting enough protein so you could try upping your proteins while deleting sugar and adding fruit. Try fuji apples. They are amazingly sweet and delicious and filling!
