I am a binge eater too, although I haven't gained weight from it, but it does make me feel sick. I am working on portion control and since I love sweets, pasta, bread, etc, I will not give up any food. Moderation is the key. Easier said than done, but do not give up and do not purge. We are a great group and come back for support.
There is a general rule of thumb that we need about 10 calories per day per pound that we weigh. There is a lot more that goes into that calculation, including activity level, metabolism rate, age, gender, etc.
Balanced calories is important: we all need some protein, some fat, some carbohydrates and all the rest each day. In measured amounts! Hopefully your dietician can help you with a balanced diet.
I hear you on the peeps thing, except that I can resist their calls. Now chocolate anything and jelly beans and cookies all have my number and know exactly how to mess with my mind!
If we don't love ourselves and take care of our diets and exercising habits... nobody can really do that for us. We have to love ourselves (and our DS friends -- what a great bunch).
