Hi, Everyone. I am new to this site and group. I am looking for a little support on my weight loss journey. Never thought I would need support and always thought I could do this alone. Well, here we are 4 years later and not only have I gained 40lbs I am struggling to stay afloat. I am not doing this for just me, I am doing this for my daughter as well. She also has gained 40lbs but hers has been in the last year. It is very hard for me to motivate her to move and eat healthier when I am struggling myself. We are 3 days into this healthy eating and I have fallen off the wagon at least once every day so far. I started out with a plan and a schedule but I have not followed it completely once. It is stressful and depressing that I feel as if I can't get right and will be overweight my entire life.
I started first with thinking oh I will just do weight loss surgery but I was denied because my BMI was not high enough. How disgusting do I have to look before I get some help? Any rate, in 2012 I started doing it on my own. I was 183lb and was able to get down to 162lb. Then life happened and now I am 207lb (i guess). The only difference is now I don't want the weight loss surgery. I want to do this naturally for my teen daughter sake. I don't want her trying to tap out for the weight loss surgery because she is only 14 and she is weighing 172lb.
The major problem here is I can't seem to get on board. I can't seem to stop failing and giving up. I look at her and feel as if I am the one killing her because I can not lead by example and get healthy myself. My family medical history is absolutely terrible ranging from type 2 diabetes (insulin dependent), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver, gallstones, strokes, and heart disease to name a few. This only includes my parents (mother and father). It does not take into consideration my grandparents. We are doomed if I can't get it together. The worst of it all is her father's side does not look better.
Well, enough pity party. Let me put on my big girl (no pun intended) boots and get moving. Hopefully, I don't stop or stumble again.
