'The rules of carbohydrate eating on Bernstein's plan are summarized as "6-12-12." This means that 6 grams of carb are eaten at breakfast, 12 grams at lunch, and 12 grams at dinner/supper.'
Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress.
basically, the dr bernstein diet is a medically supervised weightloss program that requires you to go to the clinic (and pay alot, too... unfortunatley).... they inject b6 and b12 vitamins into you three times/ week in order to speed up weight loss.
BUT, i have read alot about it and many people do the food diet alone. It is two servings of fruit, 2 servings of veggies (up to 8 oz), 2 servings of protein (3.5 oz), 2 bread substitute servings (ie, one slice of particular brands of bread), and 2 servings of misc (ie. fat free mayo or ff jello)
i have battled bulimia and extreme body issues for years now, and the dr b diet is the only thing that seems to be getting the weight off. this is mostly due to the fact that i have to go to the clinic three times/week, get weighed and be accountable. if you go up a pound (as i have), then the nurses consult you and suggest better ways to lose weight -- for example, i am off fruit until further notice, because i am not burning enough fat.
it is very strict, but i have never in my life (i swear!), lost 7-8lbs this quickly, or even at all. i have signed up to do the diet for 5 weeks and will be coming to my two week mark on wednesday. it is more affordable for me because i am a student and there is a student discount.
also, i have heard some horror stories as well -- sickness during the diet and gaining alot of weight back, but so far i feel great and have no intention of gaining anything back.
if you have any more questions or anything, private msg me :)
I just wanted to let you know a bit about my story and how I found the Dr. B diet useful - I have low blood pressure and had gained an enormous amount of weight after childbirth...had gestational diabetes as well - I found it quite difficult to lose those last 20 - 30 pounds *I had gained 75 through pregnancy*...2 years later, and knowing that going to the gym trying to raise two little children and work two jobs was not a really effective way for me to lose weight - I finally looked for help at a Dr. B clinic close to my work - It's been 5 weeks - I'm almost down to my goal weight :) (I'm 6 weeks away!)
I don't have cravings for food at this point in the diet, and am proud every time I go to the clinic and measure my success. Good luck tza! I think this diet is worth every penny - reaping the rewards of feeling good about yourself - almost like buying happiness.
p.s. good luck!
