I don't know why we do these things. It didn't help me cope better or feel better. It was just some kind of outlet valve for a lot a pent up stuff I guess.
Two things that helped for me were doing what you've done here and being honest about it. I wasn't even honest with myself and I'd really underestimate how much I was eating.
The other was working on the other problems that were causing me to binge. Rather than tackling binge eating head on I tackled the mental aspects of coming to terms with problems.
Since then things have been a lot better, but it can still be a struggle at times.
That's not really advice or anything. But just to let you know your not alone. I have no idea why I did it to myself either!
I just noticed you're in the UK too! Although I should have guessed from the food you ate. A lot of very British stuff in there.
I too am trying to work on my binge eating so I have no answers as to why. I agree that it is probably different for everyone. I have been trying to write on here or talk to a friend when I feel like I need to binge. To try to figure out what is making want to binge right then by stopping and asking myself why. It is hard. This is only my second day in a row with no binge since a 4 day binge blast. I wish you luck!
Not sure what might have triggered your "binge" but for me the issue is always diet depravation. For instance, I might crave a cookie and I'll fight the urge all day. That cookie is always in the back of my mind somewhere. I can't let it go but I'm winning the battle. Then something awful seems to happen (usually at night) - I start feeling the deprivation over that stupid cookie and I snap. I might eat a list very similar to yours. In the end I feel like you guilty and physically sick. So, for me the secret is to give in to one or two cookies if the urge is THAT strong and just move on and continue a healtier day of eating. Sometimes "giving in" to a cookie or two can save me a night of binging and the bad feelings that come with it.
Hope this helps a little. Don't give up - it really is a one-day-at-a-time process and it's NOT easy.
If you really think that you binge out of emotion you might want to talk to a good counsler. Maybe they can help youi learn how to address the issues that are causing you to binge instead of turning to food. Good Luck!
