If you found out you were diabetic would you feel weak for taking insulin? Therapy can be a HUGE part of the recovery from emotional problems. The trick is to commit to it, find a therapist who works for you, work out a plan, and then stick to it!
As for Cognitive Therapy specifically, only you can really answer the question "Will it work for me?"
Depression, no matter what it's source, is evil and will do terrible things to drag us down and keep us down. We fight back by taking baby steps when we must, and huge leaps when we can.
The trick is to remember that we are worthy of living a nice life, and we need to put the energy into that. Nobody owes it to us.
Gentle hugs
I agree with pepperman, we all are worth being the best and as happy as we can be in our daily lives.
We are all unique and should try to get help when we don't feel like ourselves. Weather, it is physical or mental; each one is so important as each one will make us feel bad.
Please start with one; and if it doesn't help seek another one.
Happiness and being content is so vital to being our best.
One day at a time.....
Logo therapy is what he invented and it basically says to live your life as if you are looking back on it 10 years down the road. That helps put things in focus.
He also says that the last of human freedoms is to choose your own attitude. This made me realize that I have a choice to react to the negativity around me. And lately, I have. My choice is to "move on" and ignore it. I am not one that handles conflict very well. So, I do better to "move on" from it.
I hope this helps you. You can come out of it.
Remember that Grandma that swam across the ocean from Cuba to Florida? Remember what she said. You are never too old. Persevere. AND this was a team effort.
So, keep that in mind. Visualize a great day, a great year, a great life. It can happen. Believe in yourself!!!
When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves.
He also said something like you can't go back and change the past (and boy do I wish we could), but you can begin to live today from this point forward to find the meaning for your life -- and the answers only you can answer for yourself.
