I just read something in Marie Clare that said eating cereal with milk decreases the amount of calories. It said eating cereal alone contains more calories than eating the same cereal with skim milk. So, this sounds ridiculous to me. Anyone care to expand on this, or does it sound like junk to you guys?

What they said was that an ounce of cereal and milk contains fewer calories than an ounce of cereal alone. I think that is correct, assuming that the milk has fewer calories than the cereal. The important concept is that the serving sizes are identical, but one serving is made up of two things, cereal plus milk, but still only one once total, while the other serving is made up of one thing alone, cereal, one ounce total.

Ohhh lol I misread that! An ounce altogether, not an ounce of each! No wonder it made no sense!

It sounds like crap to me in that you can play this numbers game with ANYTHING. Why make up some convoluted scheme for eating when it's much easier to just watch the bottom line? Jmho.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
