Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I haven't used DailyStrength in awhile. I was active in another forum here three years ago, when I was going through infertility treatment. And it was the best support site on the web! Now I am back to make some connections for weight loss. My story - I turn 39 next week, and two weeks after that my daughter will turn 3. Until my early thirties I was thin and athletic. Road a bike everywhere. I had a bad knee injury (took two years to heal) and gained 10 pounds. Then I took drugs / hormones while doing fertility treatment and gained another 10. And another 10 were added to that after my pregnancy. I have been overweight for the past 5 years and I am really getting tired of it. I've been a vegetarian my entire adult life and we grow a lot in our garden and have two urban chickens who provide us with eggs. I know how to eat healthy, but I snack a lot (especially in the evening) when I am tired and trying to give myself a boost. After my daughter was born I changed careers and started a business online, which is doing pretty well. I've also been watching her full time. Now she just started going to preschool two mornings a week and that may just be enough time for me to focus on getting healthy again! Look forward to exchanges with you all!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

Sounds like you feel challenged with the snacking. Are you planning your snacks? Walnuts or things like that? Planning and then not altering from the plan except maybe one day per week seems like a good plan.
That's a beautiful baby picture on your avatar! I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice. Best of luck in trimming back down. It's awesome you're working on it already. I think you've done a great job in only gaining as much as you did through everything! Sounds pretty awesome to me.
