First off, the FDA is not without error believe me. I worked at a blood center in Quality Assurance. The FDA now approves a lot of people taking certain drugs to be giving blood and they should not be. The standards have lowered. I can say if anyone plans to have an operation and think they may use blood for it then call and give your own weeks ahead of time. At least this way you know it is safe. (they call it an autologous donor, you can also give it for a friend or relative, they label it and send it off to the hospital)
