Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
but by going back to our all natural eating, I can even bake some really healthy bread for him to have for breakfast...1 piece is two carb points, but filling and no fructose corn syrup.
yes, food companies do not worry about our health. I wonder if they put stuff in to make us addicted like the tobacco companies do!
It isn't a rant when everything they offer us at the store is bad for us.
Now, I read the ingredients and a whole lot of bread do contain High Fructose Corn Syrup. Why?
I can totally tell the difference between regular bread and the bread with HFCS.
Also, my favorite for a long time was peanut butter with jelly. I now cut out the jelly and I use only the natural peanut butter. Ingredients? Peanuts, salt (nothing else). It's such an amazing taste. What was I before???? Well, HFCS... yes, they add it to peanut butter. I can't go back to peanut butter with HFCS.
There are lots of sites with food ideas, and even without using much of any sweetener...I think we are still having good meals.
SO
the reason they use fructose is to make the product last longer on the shelves. in the colonial days sugar or salt were used to make our foods last, but they weren't in everything....
blueviolet: I watched a documentary. The documentary said that a long time ago, America was told to cut out the fat because a lot of people were dying from heart attacks. So, since the push was to cut out the fat, the food didn't taste as good. Therefore, to replace the fat, they added the sugar. So, they said to watch out for low fat foods because low fat foods usually means more sugar.
I don't know if that's true. Just saying what I heard.
book. I have already lost my appetite from the paine so this wasn't too difficult.
Sugar is an addiction as compelling as I imagine cocaine is - and yet
I am so saturated that I have been able to do without it for most of the 30 days. The author doesn't even want you to have Vanilla yogurt as it has sugar in it. But I cannot afford to throw food out,
so I have had to eat that. It is a very extreme way to eat, but if you want to reverse your diabetic situation, I am sure this is the only way to go.
To Blue Violet, I am curious as to what book it is you are referring to, or if we can mention names of things like that, but this is supposed to be a support group, and if a commercial product, like a book helps, then it needs to be mentioned. Please let me know.
Thank you.
1 1/2. When I found out, I decided I could either get depressed or make a challenge out of it. Being depressed didn't appeal to me so a challenge it was. The result of my challenge is I have no diabetes complications and feel good all the time. I know that is a little weird
My diet is very simple and very satisfying. That is eat no combination foods unless you combine them yourself from single ingredients. No grains, rice potato or flour products. Eat only full fat foods no fat free. Eat all you want don't count calories or carbs.
You will lose weight and never be hungry. Soon you will forget the carbs and won't even care that you don't eat them. Try it you will see.
Those three things can be remedied with just a small amount of effort.
Is the rest of your life worth it to you. It really is worth it to me and I am already there really old!
I have a question for those of you who are on strict diets - do you ever have a cheat day where you enjoy a pizza, or a burger with the buns on it? I'm just wondering!
When I eat properly I feel so much better. I am not saying it is easy; it isn't. We have so much crap on the store shelves. As a society we are killing ourselves years before we have to. I keep trying to do well because of my grandchildren. I keep plugging away, fall backward, but get up and go on.
Good luck to everyone out there. What a journey life is!!!!
