You said "I know I need to exercise", so you have not been exercising? Exercise is important, it helps to control the numbers more so and of course helps your body to get healthy
You say "I didn't eat as I should" but you are now, the A1C is for the last 3 months so with exercise and correct eating you should see a change with your next A1C.
have you discussed this with your doctor and told him/her what you have told us? Talk to him/her, it is important to have a good relationship with your doctor and know you can do this - one day at a time

I am on Metforim 2 times a day 1,000 mg each and the doctor raised the 2nd medication Glizapride to 10 mg from 5 mg. I went to GNC and asked if they had anything to help my blood sugar and bought cinnamon capsules whilch helps. My sugar has gone down. My A1C was 7.5 then 7.9 and this time 7.
When things get better I start craving sugar. I know very well not to eat anything sweet. My daughter bought me a book for Christmas "Sugar Blues" and I have been reading about the damages sugar does to our body.
I was diagnosed in Aug 12 and it takes a while to figure out what works best for you personally. We are all different, just wanted to share this, if you're interested in checking it out.
