Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Try to keep an open mind. And I find the specialist nurses more helpful than the consultant/endo so try and get an appointment with them if you can.
It does sound like you need some help. I have suggested options for getting to the hospital, I think you need to at least try and ask for help from them, don't close yourself off before you even start.
And what someone says doesn't necessarily reflect what they will actually go and do. Maybe you have been lucky with nice doctors who listen and pay attention to you but I know I have felt frustrated with doctors very often and if asked I might say I felt *like* I wanted to punch them in the face , I have never been a violent person and would never do that in reality, it is a figure of speech which simply means I am incredibly frustrated that they will not listen to me. But I know I have been lucky to have a reasonably good education and have a good vocabulary to express myself, some people speak or type differently for whatever reason . I think we need to look past that or try to anyway.
Feeling like it is pointless even trying or you are not worth it is very common with a range of mental illnesses such as depression. If you feel like that, then although logically you know you would feel better if you took care of yourself, it is hard if not impossible to motivate yourself to do so. This is why depression is so frustrating for family and friends - they cannot see or understand why you cannot do something, and you cannot explain it to them. It can be a battle just trying to get out of bed and do normal activities let alone something like taking care of diabetes.
Yes we are here to help and to guide a person in the right direction but that person also needs to want to help themselves also
