Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
mine is a tricky situation because of the prednisone i am on so when i go higher on that i have to go higher on the victoza and back on insulin sometimes.
i also have to remember being low on the prednisone i have to worry about LOW blood sugars now so its the opposite.
i would try keeping a journal and perhaps a checklist with you everyday. maybe one online would help as well
A fast approaching deadline at work, or a heavy workload. A busy social calendar involving eating out etc. Perhaps you have a demanding family (which I don't and I'm not calling them trivial, naturally), but all that stuff is distracting from what is essentially a fatal disease. A slow acting cancer if you like.
I don't have a direct answer for you as I struggle with this too. The only thing I have learnt recently is to get back on the horse as soon as falling off as possible and not letting pride get in the way to play tricks on you.
I also try to maintain a spiritual aspect to my life, and I do genuinely think that prayer is helpful - for all things, particularly health and mental attitudes to living our lives and treating ourselves with respect.
One last thing, taking it a day at a time and dealing with life in 24 hour blocks and starting afresh the next day is really helpful also. I've used it to tremendous success in other areas of my life (alcoholism, smoking etc).
I sympathise and empathise and am hoping the good habits will stick this time. Good luck!
Its so easy to "fall off the horse"....or to backslide....
Daily routines can be so boring....every day, taking blood glucose readings....now, for me, its every other day...but I hate doing the same thing over and over and over.
Its an absolutely gorgeous day today, not too much heat, the blue of the sky and I feel good.
My most recent small change was adding "fake" chicken to my menu a few times a week. Also fake burgers too. For me the fake chicken tastes better than real chicken so it's easy to sub that.. The burgers on the other hand is a totally different taste. LOL
Last year I stopped drinking my diet soda.. Went from a size 22/24 to 16/18 and dropped 30 pounds. Now I only drink tea and water. I play with flavors.. Crystal light, green teas ect..
You just have to do the best for yourself you can and when there's a glitch don't beat yourself up over it. Put post it note reminders in key places, keep pills (if you take them) in your purse or bedside table so you remember to take them (I even have a packet next to my toothbrush so I always take them in the morning and night).
it was hard at first now im just disgusted with all the soda everyone in my family drinks lol i cringe at pepsis and all of it i dont miss it anymore.
lipton has good diet green teas. and if you have a kmart they have this "smart sense" brand drinks
