Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

the lightheaded/faint type feeling at the shoe store was only a few seconds but do you think that was a drop in sugar or blood pressure drop? After i left the store and drove home that is when i took my sugar and it was 87. thanks for you reply and help
a blood sugar of 154 after eating is great. You only have to worry if you get close to 200, like 190 or so, at least that's what my doctor said. Remember, your blood sugar goes up anytime you eat carbs, and cheese is considered a carb.

blood sugar spikes after eating are caused by too many carbohydrates. We are basically either insulin deficient and insulin resistant , on the other hand you may be one or the other in any case the remedy is the same determine what you can eat with your meter
I try to limit my carb content to a 140 1 hour after eating this is tricky timing though since the fat in your grilled cheese could have delayed absorption by an hour or so.
I will give you an example:
I ate a 9 inch pizza
1hour 142
2 hour 145
3 hour 188
5 hour 106
