Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Eat right and exercise. Get your meter out and test multiple times a day until you have figured out what you can eat, how much you can and when you need to eat. Then test everyday. Work with a doctor. Get on the right medication. It is all do-able and many people here have done it. And you can do it too.

You have made the first step in control of your diabetes and that part is great. Go into the bathroom or find another mirror and look at that person looking back at you...and say "I can do this, I will do this, I will do this for myself in order so I can be there for my family" repeat every day..
get the exercise, it does help with depression, watch portion controls, count carbs, know we are here for you anytime and do come back
Why I am amazed I don't know. I mean, who'd have thought that taking my meds as directed would make a difference. (*sarcasm*)
I have made healthy choices for breakfast and lunch today so I am on the right track. I plan on exercising tonight while I watch the new Rosie O Donnel show on OWN. I keep trying to remember what I felt like when I got my diagnosis last November. The feeling was angry. Then I remember how good I felt when I took control, released 23 pounds, A1C came down and cholesterol looked good. Those 3 months made a difference. I can do this and so can you. We can do this together! Linda
I am happy to see you are ready to take control, your life is turning around. Come here, and often. There is not the face to face contact which we all need, but the words are strong and do help. There are many who understand this disease and hope you do receive the support you need.
Personally, I have not been through what you have, but have had my own tribulations making life rough a lot of times. One deals with it, hopefully learns from it, and looks forward to handle another challenge, it happens, and we grow in the process.
Take care of yourself, you understand the situation, and look forward to future posts.
