Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I have very deep, wide scars -- stretch marks, since my first pregnancy. I don't know if it started after the Type 2 (May,2003 diagnosed), but sometime they become inflamed, very red, and bloody looking, but don't actually bleed. I put Palmer's Cocoa Oil (with Vitamin E) and they calm down in a day or two. Any time I've ever mentioned this to a doctor, or googled it, there's no information.
I mentioned this to you, because when you google skin graft and Type 2, they bring up articles about grafts after limb loss and possible infection.
If you watch Dr. Joel Furman's PBS Special about what to eat to reverse diabetes, if you are able to follow the diet, you can completely avoid diabetes. It is a miserable and painful disease.
No one talks about the pain much, but if you can make yourself follow the diet, it would be the greatest gift you could give yourself, to never have to endure one minute of it. Wish I had.
Please talk with your doctor about this. (Metformin controls blood sugars not cholesterol)
Not only does Metformin a diabetes 2 treatment reduce glucose (the long term cause of diabetes), but Metformin and cholesterol can also work together to reduce blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels and still prevent weight gain unlike other blood-glucose lowering drugs which are unable to do this. High levels of overweight, cholesterol and triglyceride all increase the risk of forming heart disease, which is the top cause of death in those suffering from Type II diabetes. Moreover Metformin prevents hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) when it is the sole diabetes treatment taken.
I am sure I was put on metformin not only because my BS was so high, but my tryglycerides were high as well.
So far, I still heal pretty well, much like I always did, but any scars I have I am keeping...lol I just don't think it necessary to have things like that removed. But of course that is just me!
I still experience lows but usually they are human cause not the diabetes causing it as some meds will do lol. and not everyone will lose weight with this med
When you completely stop the symptoms, you get normal blood sugar readings - the experts refer to that as reversing the disease.

Of all the foods that naturally help with blood sugar, the one that most affected my blood sugar was pomegranate. I got drastically reduced numbers for a few days when I
ate pomegranate. This might not be true for everyone, but it is a safe thing to try.
Anything I share is something that helped me, that is completely safe, and that someone might can use.
I check this board for safe, reasonable ideas, not medical advice.
I hope you find something interesting and helpful in what I sent.
Good luck.
Hypothyroidism is often associated with diabetes too. Are you being treated for that?
What kind of diet do you follow?
