Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Too much oat meal will spike your blood sugar. You have to experiement and see how much you should take. SAfter 3 hrs Your blood sugar should not be more than 150 .
A lot of protein drinks are made from egg whites. Why not just have an egg?
Yesterday my morning BG reading was 108. Two hours after breakfast it was 111. Another protein/blueberry shake in the afternoon and my before dinner GB reading was 94.
For ME- steel cut oatmeal, protein shakes and blueberries have controlled and lowered my BG readings considerably over the past few months. I have read that processed oats like instant or quick oatmeal will indeed spike your sugar readings. Everyone is different.
Best wishes!

I am eating cereal at this time, twice a day called Fiber One and Kelloggs Fiber Plus although I add some Stevia to mine, it satisfies my sweet tooth. This is how I do it athough I am buying the cereal since the Cereal was on sale at an 'offer I couldn't refuse' and I am a cheap skate and better blood sugars so I can only share what my experience has been. I have hope that I will eventually be as low in weight as when I was in college although life does throw curves often so I have to focus on eating what I believe is right for myself.
The best part is not the scale, my medical people look at that, what I like is how my clothes are fiting better and they are becoming more and more of a friend to me, Praise God!
Do people get headaches or migraines from low or high blood sugars since I have mostly had a problem with headaches and then I check it and it's normal lower than I expected it to be.
I have read the steel cut is best and the processed, quick or instant oatmeals will jump the blood glucose numbers pretty fast. The steel cut digest much more slowly and therefore cause less of a BG rise.
I don't cook it on the stove, I cook it in the nuker and I will get back to eating in before very long since it does taste good, I didn't like it when I was young and yet the way I make it now it's far better tasting and its my health I focus on far more than when I was young.
I do add cinnamon and Raisens to my Oatmeal I am sure I said before so I won't talk about that all over again here.
