Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I do know that about a month or so into my diagnosis and metformin usage, I was hungry all the time. Not so much when I woke up, but definitely all day long. I could eat dinner and be hungry a half hour later. I would go to bed starving and wake up not hungry. It is funny how I remember that period of time, but I did not even notice when that period of time ended. lol I use to walk whenever I was really hungry and believe it or not - it helped me. I also tried to eat foods really high in fiber to keep me full longer. If this is just happening to you in the morning, then you are lucky! lol
Good luck!
Thanks
And I am not a fan of Actos. I took it for a year and gained over 50 lbs! Read up on it and be very careful taking it. I had my doctor take me off of it in favor of the metformin and have lost 30 lbs in 4 months. It was also just in the news for a possible link to kidney cancer.
I had probelm with diarrhea with metformin. They changed it to Metformin ER and it was better. Actos made me gain 9 pounds in a week and I stopped it at the end of that week.
I have had the feeling I had a low and wasn't. Don't know how to explain that...
Its Weird..lol
The other thing is that since I have been on the metformin I noticed that even though I feel like I m starving whne I eat I get full faster...
Beckster...I have the same problem, but more at night than during the day.
