Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

Type 2 runs in my family. But i'm also on a couple of meds, some of which have some internet-y links to type 2. You know what I mean, the kind of link that a non-medically-trained person like me can find by googling things, but of course is not necessarily trustworthy.
So I thought I'd ask here. Celebrex, Methotrexate, Stelara. Up until I started Stelara nine months ago, I was on Humira for two years.
I am NOT looking for excuses or trying to avoid any personal responsibility; I'm certainly looking hard at my diet and exercise and all other possible factors. But I am getting conflicting info from the rheumatologist and my family doctor. I have long been uneasy about the former's seemingly offhand dismissal of my concerns about taking daily Celebrex indefinitely (it's been three years) when she says "well, it's owrking, so stay on it, and if complication arise, we'll deal with them." My family doctor, who diagnosed the type 2 and put me on Metformin, says the Celebrex could be a factor, if not the sole cause, and suggests that I discontinue it.
But if I stop the Celebrex now, a week after starting Metformin, I've changed two variables at once, how will I know which one is working? And will the inflammation that always returns when I stop Celebrex have a negative effect on the type 2? We're talking severe inflammation here, like, can't open or close my hands without the Celebrex. That level of inflammation isn't going to help anything.
I do need to treat my rheumatoid arthritis, but if there's a connection here, I'd like to renew my efforts to control the inflammation in other ways.
Any thoughts on those specific meds?

It's bedtime but I heated up some coffee to take my pills with and made a fresh pot so I can have some as soon as I wake up tomorrow a.m. I've been on a roll for 2 days with cleaning and getting other stuff done. I bought a new cell phone about a week ago and I've been having some issues. I stopped at Verizon and a nice young man jumped in to help. As a result, I was able to get an iced...

You can also get a second opinion about stopping your
Pills from another doctor. Try to get more information before
You change anything.
I do a partial keto diet and it took care of several issues. I also do supplements as I was dificient in several vitamins that caused many symptoms that doctors over look. You should check with your doctor, but they are not trained on nutrition or supplements. Do your own research. I got a ton of info from my local health food store.
I was on Celbrex several years ago but only for a month as it has bad side effects (don't all pharma mess?).I like natural as there are no side effects.
Best of luck.....and educate yourself.....it's your best defense!
