Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
The suggestions from the post, my bp going into stroke level one night, and the movie Super Size Me all being on in one night made me decide to change not only me but my children too.
We have eaten healthy every since with the exception of one day of take out.
We likely will not be do the take out again either because it didn't taste good anymore. It was too salty and greasy.
I thought I would never be able to give up sweets, but when I was diagnosed, the first thing I thought was, I don't want to lose my eyesight or lose a leg. Somehow, that gave me the push I needed. Now I barely miss sweets. Before, if I ate a bite, I would eventually eat a huge portion of sweet. Now I can just eat a bite. Don't know what has changed.
I have also lost over 25 pounds since January, most of it lost since diagnosis. I have tried to lose weight for over ten years! So you can do what you need to do. I know you can. We are all worth keeping ourselves as healthy as we can.
Someday, I may feel like giving up, but I know I can come here and get support and information. I love this site.
I am so proud of you! It is going to take an adjustment but you know what? You are going to get there!
The movie Supersize Me! as well as the movie Food, Inc. really motivated me. I also know that with a bit of time, you are going to get better at the cooking part! Actually, you may find it a lot of fun as well!
Kelly Rose, don't you dare give up! You know what? Don't set the initial targets too high, make some meaningful first steps to help you gain some confidence! We are all here to help you and you can do this! We have all been there and it does get easier!
BIG HUGS to both of you!
