How low is your lowest #

Hi! I am on Metformin 1000 mg, 20 mg Glipizide and 36 units of Lantus I have been dipping into low 50's in afternoon and get very sleepy and cold, kinda delirious - does this happen to anyone? my doctor recommended I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks but that is not working. My fasting number is still at 160. Help!

Hi,
I wonder if you need less Lantus??? My dad took Lantus and had alot of lows... Im having lows in the fifties and it feels terrible...

When do you take your meds? I moved mine to bedtime and now my fasting is much better. You could try bumping up the carbs in your afternoon snack to see if that helps.

I dont know anything about the lows but I also have high AM numbers and my doctor told to take the Metformin later at night but I'm afraid because then my dinner is not covered.

well i take Metformin 1000 mg & 20 mg glipizide twice a day, plus 16 units of is NOVOLIN INSULIN in the moring and 11 units at night, hudshon, i fell the same way as you do, and i eat the recommednded meals that my doctor said to do, but by time the evening hits, my levels are in the low to mid 40

That is way too low!!! What has your dr said??? Mine told me if fall below 50 to call 911!!!

My low was 52. I forgot to adjust my eating and meds to vigorous physical activity-yard work. I felt pretty lousy, but I was determined to finish the yard. Hubby came home, quickly realized what was wrong and made sure I ate something.
