Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Let's say your sugar levels are at normal. You add a sweet in addition to your usual meal plan. Two hours later after eating your levels should be up higher than your morning fasting levels anyway but the next morning don't be surprised if your fasting numbers are up. However,I would think eating the other days as planned it should not be a factor by Thursday. Of course that is also providing it was a reasonable amount of sweet not an enormous one.
Just my opinion
Your body is remarkable and is trying hard to compensate for being insulin resistant (type 2), by causing excess thirst....hence drinking more water and frequent urination.........anything to try and get rid of the excess sugar building up in your system. However, it is not enough and that is why eating healthy is essential.
Scientists are working like crazy to help us, but in the meantime, we have to do our part by eating healthy and exercise so our bodies can work with the carbs we do eat. The complex carbs such as whole grains, fruit in small amounts, and fresh veggies, and protein are essential in our diets, but also released slowly into our systems.
Keeping our blood sugars as level as possible really helps our bodies be able to do it's job a little easier.....plus we will have more energy and run at optimum performance.
I know I feel a thousand times better and have lost around 70 or 80 pounds so far.
I felt horrible for so long and now I am feeling better and have more energy.....it keeps me on the straight and narrow.
I sneak some treats here and there.....but I also work them into my carb count and eat them sparingly.
My daughter is getting married in September......and you can bet I will have a very small slice of her wedding cake......so I am planning even now.
It is not so bad. I look at it that there are many people who have bigger problems than me. I only have to eat healthy, exercise, and take a pill twice a day. I'm just doing what healthy people do. Other people have to put on prosthetic limbs, change dressings/needles/tubes....sometimes several times a day. Their routine revolves around putting their body together just to get through a day......not to mention all their doctor appointments and massive medicines they have to take. I feel pretty lucky!
It's stuff like cookies, cakes, ice cream, white breads, white rice, white potatoes, pasta, ketchup, fried foods that are released quickly into the bloodstream and flooding our systems with too much sugar too fast causing sugar to flood the bloodstream......not good.
I got a great surge of hope at your first sentence in your first post on this topic. "
Your blood renews itself every 3 months,"
I didn't know this. Though I did know our blood cells were constantly renewing I just didn't know it took 3 months to complete the process.
Not only am I diabetic but I am attempting to stop smoking and knowing all my blood will be clean in 3 months doesn't make it seem like an impossible thing to do.
It also is changing my attitude this morning of feeling deprived of all those nasty carbs.
Thank you for the post.
