Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
But, the good news is that coffee and tea in themselves are actually good for you in many ways. There are chemical components in them that help to fight off illness and in the case of prediabetes to keep from crossing over.
So drinking decaf is a better option all around.
As for glucometers, most doctors suggest that you calibrate your machines at your regular visits. When you go for your regularly scheduled blood tests, take a reading with your glucometer at the same time your blood is drawn. Then compare that to the results of your lab tests. This will help you to determine how accurate your particular machine is.
As for meters, I always have mine calibrated, whenever I go for my AIC blood work? I thought that was just a given for everyone. My one touch ultra mini 2 is right on the nose... same as my regular One Touch ultra 1 was. I have always used these, and why change, except for the test strips.
The watch meters are on sale for about $200
I hope they do work My finger's are getting prickly and I've only been diagnosed a month.
I'm in England and the blood is taken at hospital and results sent to the GP a long winded affair.
My GP just said come back on 3 months
and gave me a couple of leaflets. This seems to be a disease of self discovery I know I have learned much more from this site than the doctors!
Can these watches be ordered? Are they really accurate? Thanks so much. :)
It seem's that this one is still being developed! a few companies are working on them so looks good for the future. That's if you really want to know Glucose levels all the time,
I guess if your on insulin it becomes pretty dam important!
