Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I too have seen the damage type 2 diabetes can do. I saw it in my father's mother, my father, my one brother & in 2 of his sons. My sister-in-law's father had it & died from complications. She herself has bit the bullet & finally got it under control.
And that is why I'm worrying. I love this niece like she was my own daughter.
An update on her. By not drinking pop for 2 weeks she has lost 10 lbs. She saw the bariatric doctor yesterday & after 6 appointments for counseling & other stuff she will have the surgery. The doctor told her she wants her on 500 calories at 3 meals 3 times a day & one 300 calorie snack. Or 2 if she wants to break the calories in half.
That is really good news, now if she could lose 10 pounds that easily maybe she could do it without surgery????
