Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I'm thinking that damage occurs during the time when we are outside these numbers..
Of the above, I hope I am wrong...but...
I ingest half an apple in the second feeding super salad and a noontime snack of "some" apple sauce..
Moderation is the key, as is balance...easy to say...
I'd love to see our scientists do a lot more work here..
Why does the apple set off hunger pains , in some people ??
Kae, how about an apple/celery/cheese salad mix ??

It doesn't hurt to try and maintain within 70-140, which seems to be the standard. I have read even if you maintain even up to 160 it is not a problem. You need to balance out the diet, even with foods in the gylcemic index.
So we must manage glycemic index, carbs, discovering foods that absolutely we cannot control (such as me with corn - I go over 200 with that even portioned) and yes this does affect alll of us differently, our bodies process differently but in the end you can't deny the body things that are good for you...it is a matter of finding the right balance and what we feel comfortable with, once in a while a spike above the range, 2 hours later won't hurt us, but it is when the body suddenly decides to do this more often, when we can no longer control...which could mean a progression of the disease leading to problems and more meds or even insulin
