Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. I am not advising on what should be done. But, if it comes to it and the Doctors start advising that they amputate. Don't be afraid.
My Dad had to have his leg amputated below the knee and it has been hard. But it was a decision that had to be made. My Dad worked very hard with the physiotherapists and was walking on a prosthetic in 4 months. He did have a setback when he fell due to problems with medication and balance and he fractured a vertebra, but before that he had started walking only using a cane for balance.
Oh, Mom and Dad have a townhouse with bedrooms upstairs and kitchen and living room downstairs so Dad does go up and down them stairs from the beginning!
Anyway, if it comes to it, it is not tragic or the end.
Get good advice on how it will heal, if it will heal, what dangers there are for the meantime while it is healing.
I myself have no feeling in much of the soles of my feet and little in the rest of the soles. There is a lot of loss of sensation in the rest of the foot as well. I have to be very careful.
