fasting 160

ok so this was first for me this morning , my B S came to 160 fasting .
so it made me thinking what i ate .

i had a kabab with sweet termeric chutney ,
3 mangoes at 11 pm .

am i stupid or what .

just wanted to share that .

not necessarily, you could be just experiencing the dawn effect, this is something that is hard to control...a lot of us deal with this and nothing you can do...try eating protein at night. The fruits are high glycemic....they spike higher but come down quickly...

Is your reading different if you don't eat at 11PM..I have a little protein at 10, but never eat big after 6pm.

My early am fasting BS is usually quite high 140-160.
Doesn't seem to matter what I eat before.
Where I've got the rest of the day in control I'm not going to worry too much about it but always open to suggestions.

I'm on Glipizide XL twice daily

Wow. That is exactly the kind of problem I often have. I will eat almost no carbs, late, but morning will be elevated. Will come down once I take my Metformin. I didn't know it was so common.

So much to learn.

I'm trying an experiment this week. I have been taking Glipizide XL with my dinner but a couple of days ago I tried not taking it until about 8pm.
Morning BS was 130 both days.

Wow!! My sugar is terrible! ! I average between 200 and500 every morning since I've been checking

3rd day of taking one of my Glipizide doses at 8pm. 130 in the morning yet again. I might be on to something.

Further comment:
I realize that Glipizide XL is extended release but wonder if the time span between doses makes a difference? Basically if taken in AM and then with dinner, that's about a 9 hour span. Then it's 15 hours til the next AM dose.
