chia seeds?

The person who does my hair has mentioned chia seeds to me and a new "super food". One of the things it is supposed to do is stabilize blood sugar. Everything I've read so far on line sounds very positive and it was even mentioned on The Today Show in a positive light. It looks to be very inexpensive when bought in bulk at the health food store. Anyone else try it?

Wow...I can't believe it's been a year since I started this thread, which means I have been consuming them for a year. I put a heaping 1/2 tablespoon in 8 oz of water and stir them occassionally for 10 minutes. It doesn't matter if I soak them longer than that but I always do it for 10 minutes. That appears to be the magic amount for me but I would suggest working up to it.

Anytime I test my BS it is within normal ranges, with the exception of the morning one which I have never got to be within the normal range. Warning...You will have very healthy bowel movements. LOL. I drink mine prior to eating lunch as I read you shouldn't take them within an hour of taking meds. Since I take morning and evening meds, I chose the middle of the day. I don't really notice the energy thing and I think the taste is very mild. I just chug them down.

I do get them in bulk at the health food store here in town and they are very, very inexpensive. Linda
