Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Naw, you did just fine to introduce yourself! There are those like me who are just super chatty but who are a little confused (not a word Gayle), some people call me a little bit crazy but I have worked hard to maintain that reputation.
Please don't feel down, look your diabetes could very well be because of bad genes or a lot of other factors. You have already started on the really hard things like losing weight and taking care of your eating but, this is a process and it is going to take a bit of time to get there. Learn to count carbs and start to exercise lightly and work yourself up slowly. There is no sense in going all gung ho and turning yourself off exercise.
This is really a great group and soon you will make yourself many new friends here. Avoid white foods, bread, potatoes, rice they contain starches that can metabolize into sugars that will have an effect on your blood sugars. One thing that really helps is to find yourself snacks that replace the feel of some of the bad foods. In the last month and a half, I have lost 23 lbs and yes, I am very proud of myself!
Take care and ask all the questions that you want, someone here will always answer and we are here to help each other. In fact, I started to spread a rumour that only the kewlest kids hang out here so you see, you're in the right place!
hugs,
lary
