Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
How else can you manage an illness if not with help from your Doctor. Earlier there was a discussion about depression. It could help in that department, he can help you manage your diabetes and maybe take that part (depression) out of your day.
However I have found nurses are much better than doctors for this sort of thing. I only see consultants/doctors under sufferance really and ignore most of what they say.
Another reason for seeing an endo is that they can put you in touch with other diabetics in your area to access peer support and classes.
Ok, so you are in a remote location. Is there any prospect of moving somewhere better provided with medical facilities, a larger town or city? If you won't or can't drive that is the best solution, it is what I did.
Actually, can I ask how old you are? Not in a rude way but I am genuinely curious why you are dependent on your mother to drive you around. Are there no cabs or public transport? Do you have friends who could drive you? Not even friends, just anyone who you know and who might either drive you from the kindness of their heart or in return for payment for their petrol and maybe a little on top? Or could you learn to drive yourself with the aim of being more independent? There must be solutions to these problems if you really want to solve them.
However it does sound to me like you have problems other than the diabetes and you maybe need to speak with your family doctor about counselling or something to help with your emotions before you can feel capable of tackling your diabetes.
