Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Basically there is no such thing as a "diabetic diet", it is a healthy diet that you will now follow with some changes of course...don't eat white breads, stick with the 'light' or if you can find it low carb breads like wheat or multi-grain, no white rice, no pastas unless your stores carry Dreamfields since this is diabetic friendly. Watch out for fried foods, stick with broiled baked....eat veggies tho watch out for carrots, corn since they are loaded with sugars.
Learn to eat portion controls, read a food label and watch your total carb intake per day....most of us can handle about 45 per meal. and of course watch your snacks, sweets etc, no regular sodas etc. yes it can be overwhelming but after a while it becomes second nature and know of course we are here for you any time
