Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
However....'my' Primary Care Doctor, AND, my ENDO, both have 'me' do my blood sugars within 30 minutes 'before' meals. They have 'never' had me do them 'after'.
As far as needing to 'adjust' carbs and such, there are charts that tell you how many of this & that you can and can't have per meal. And by using the dietary labels on a food item, and figuring portion control, you can automatically know what to eat and how much of it.
I to use a graduated scale (IF needed) with 'one' of my insulins. The scale was given to me 'just in case'. It is used if my numbers are high from my previous meal. In other words, if I had thrown meal caution to the wind with my previous meal and my numbers reflect that.
But anyway, that's how they have 'me' doing it, and I've been doing it for 7 years.
