I have an appointment with my Consultant next week so any information or personal experience stories would be a great help :)
I was told wen I was diagnosed in Feb last year that when I'm diagnosed a year I would be able to get an insulin pump.
So, my question;
1.Have you ever had an insulin pump? and if so what was your experience with it?
2.How does an insulin pump work?
3.At the moment I inject 6 times a day at least, would this reduce on the pump?
4.What do you think of insulin pumps?
And if you have any other information on insulin pumps that would be great :)

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
One has to check blood sugars more often when using the pump.
Ins. pump is better for you than taking injections. If you are responsible enough to keep an eye on your blood sugars.
Also, when you get your pump never Russian Roulette with boluses.
Meaning never give self a bolus without first checking your sugar level. Your pump is regulated or programmed to give you boluses of insulin at certain times. You also can give self insulin anytime needed. Animas pump has an automatic carb calculator in the pump. Hope this helped you.

a straw you hook up to your leg or stomach,count the carbs you ate, ( do the math) then punch the numbers in and it gives you insulin.I think pumps rock and i can't wait to get mine in about 5 months!
