Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Cutting is a learned behaviour, when we're young we learn what's easy and works to deal with the pain, fear, anxiety, stress, depression, all the emotions and feelings that are inside us that we don't know how to deal with....when we cut we do it for 1 of 2 reasons. 1. the physical pain replaces the emotional pain for a while, or 2. the bloodletting, the sight and belief that blood leaving our bodies takes the "bad" with it, letting us feel better. Neither of them work for long, and the longer we do it, the less they work. Problem is its so incredibly addictive and it becomes addictive very fast....and once we get addicted to it, it becomes very hard to stop.
The good thing is Learned Behaviours can be replaced with other healthy learned coping skills. Your Counselor can help you learn coping skills to deal with all the emotions that are going on, all of the hurt and bad things and head spinning, that's her job, to help you learn healthy ways to deal with all of it. As for people, right now the only thing you need to worry about is you, You are the most important thing in your life. I know its hard being your age and having thoughts of peers talking about you, etc. but sometimes you just have to say "screw 'em" they are not important right now. Me, I'm important, I'm my most important thing. Because you are so important, so not worthless and you can with the help of your Counselor figure out how to deal with things.
Your parents aren't trying to drive you nuts, they just love you, and their scared and all they know to do is try to keep you safe however they can....just remember that they love you.
if you need to talk, feel free to message me.
Hang in there and take care,
