Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
driving at all. I completely avoid it even it it means it takes me longer
to get somewhere. I don't trust the other drivers on the road.
@Kelly, my husband does do the Lion's Share of the driving so I'm very fortunate in that regard.
The anxiety I have is really strange as it's not so much seeing the snow, etc., on the road, it's the sound the wheels of the car make while going over the road, and the sound of any snow/slush bouncing up into the undercarriage of the car. The last one especially.
We have to wait so long for specialist appointments up here, so hopefully the next one will be in the Spring. ;-)
When we were driving home from the this recent trip I didn't mention that when we were just outside a neighbouring community that first an ambulance, then a police cruiser when flying by with their lights and sirens flashing. We had stopped for a 'pee break', and the volunteer fire fighter pumper truck was pulling out with it's lights flashing, followed by an emergency response truck. My good friend was travelling that day and all I could think of was, "Please let her be safe." Then as we got back on to the highway from our break another cruiser and rescue vehicle went flying by.
I found out last night that thankfully my friend wasn't in the accident; however, the daughter of my co-worker was!! Thank goodness she is okay. She hit some black ice, skidded and then rolled her car. There was a truck travelling behind her and they hit the same patch of ice, skidded and rolled, but on the opposite side of the highway.
I just saw the pictures of what is left of her car. It brought back some chilling memories, but the car can be replaced. I am so thankful that this precious young lady is okay, as are the occupants of the other vehicle.
Sorry, just felt the need to get this out.
