Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
There will be ugly angels too, because God doesn't discriminate, or so Ive been told. I've not actually met the man

I pretty much agree on the rest...
There are others I find much worse, but not posting them as it will mean seeing them again!! lol
Prostate cancer is a huge killer, why not include all in this charitable event? The blatant sexism at play is why I hate the adverts.
Otherwise, sure, commercials are obnoxious. The idea in itself is obnoxious, but they have been taken to a ridiculously shameful level over the last 50 years.
Halifax is an odd one, it`s like half of the ad knows it`s ridiculous and has tongue in cheek, the other half means it.
hmm, the race for life is just an unfortunately ambiguous name for the event whose focus started as female specific i believe (breast cancer)
Prostate cancer already has Movember sir, and growing a `tache excludes women... well, MOST of them ;)
adverts have taught me the following things:
if a couple save some money, the man is not allowed to have any plans for it.
men are baffled by air freshener
girls have a "sex in the city" style lunch to discuss absolutely everything... even how to poop easily.
only cockneys drive vans
if anything has happened to me at any point in my life ever, there`s probably some compensation available.
*product X* will turn any family into a picture of simpering twee-ness.
The thing with the race for life ads, is it is not just women that are affected. Families include men, maybe a man lost his wife and would like to run in her honour? Oh no, wait, we have to compartmentalise everything. Fund raising should NEVER be sex specific.
personally i`d find it patronising if i was running for testicular cancer and a girl pulled the "it doesn`t ONLY affect you" line. of COURSE the emotional effect of someone getting cancer or similar is going to reach beyond that one person, but not at the primary physical level.
No-one is saying you can`t support the cause, go and cheer them on or donate, but events like the race for life create a "togetherness" that elevates its success which would be compromised if it was "opened up".
i guess i see it in the same way as any other charity event like this - i`m happy to support the cause and hope society reaps the benefits in the future.... but i`m not dressing up as an alarm clock and running backwards for 20 miles - however if someone else wants to, more power to them ;)
The follow up ad is asking for more women because they dont have enough to raise funds, if they opened it up to men as well, then they wouldn't have needed to spend money on another advert, the deficit they are pre-empting wouldn't necessarily happen.
I stand by my right to be annoyed by this, totally and utterly.
so continue your annoyance good sir!
i`ll continue with my parallel contempt for those pay-day loan places, especially given how quickly they`re sprining up and taking advantage of people left stuck with the economic collapse.
Quick Quid, for the company only :D
