I feel the same way. It's scary and depressing. My one hope is that in actual practice he won't do that much, and his supreme court appointments will be more reasonable than I'm afraid they will be and he won't set in motion WWIII. (Bush promised to do things he never did.) I'll be praying for our country every day.

Most of the people I know in real life did not vote for either candidate, they voted AGAINST somebody.

You can easily ask the question why didn't Trump win by a landside? Hillary did so much to lose.

She disrespected the secret service agents assigned to her (both now and when Bill was in office). She flaunted security protocol and used a private server instead of a secure government server. She would not call radical religions what they are: radical religions. She and Bill made a TON of money when she was secretary of state. Her husband abused women, and she did nothing to stand up for the abused women. She lied about her email usage. She was investigated by the FBI, people who had lesser security transgressions lost their jobs and worse. Her 'basket of deplorables' statement was very immature.

Fair is fair, your points about Trump are well taken. He offended a lot of people with his statements about immigration, the border with Mexico, women, etc.

I think that if the democrats had run a candidate that had broad appeal and did not do all the things that Hillary did that would have given them a landslide victory. Likewise if the republicans had run a candidate that did not do all the things that Trump did that would have given them a landslide victory.

I think this year was definitely a choice of the lesser of 2 evils. I will not argue with anybody about who truly was the lesser of the 2 evils; we all have our own set of requirements for the job of President.

I am told that there is an old saying "may you be cursed to live in interesting times". With limited research I found a reference to Sir Austen Chamberlain of England in 1936. He made an indirect reference to it being a Chinese saying, but my research has not verified that. Perhaps he was just a politician who made up something and then made up a reference to it rather than to claim credit for a really nice saying.


Soooo, we got what we voted for. Perhaps we need to work on the process, make it more open, and make our politicians more responsive to our needs and wants.

As for me, I am going to wait and see. Besides, nothing I can do to change the results.

Any religion can have radical elements. I guess that most religions do, or at least did at some point in time. I think that we, as a free society, need to speak out against any organization that would seek to take freedom away from others.

There is that group from Westboro that rejoices when ever an American soldier dies, and routinely protests against gay rights.

The United Kingdom had a lot of trouble years ago between Protestants and Catholics over many issues; there was too much killing involved.

There are many terrorist organizations that are faith based, and they use their faith as a justification for killing those who do not believe the same way that they do.

I think that it is important to stand up to these organizations, no matter if they are a new hate based faith group, or have been around for 100s of years.

The fact that we are dancing around this issue is to me symptomatic of how society is not able/willing to have this discussion

Pepperman, I think your being a little to hard on Hillary. She had marital problems with her husband which unfortunately may have been undisplay for all the world to see. Because they were both public figures. Choosing to stay with her husband is a very personal choice one that nobody on the outside looking in has a right to decide. Millions of married men and woman make those same choices around the world everyday in private while others choose divorce. And what is wrong with making alot of money they were both in high demand as public speakers and were well paid. There is lots of people in this world who are well paid for their speaking abilities and experience in different areas and subjects they are well versed in. And I have not seen any jealousy or any finger pointing at these other men and women. Also Trump is a billionaire he has way more money then the Clintons. And by not releasing his tax returns no one really knows how he makes all his money. Clearly he is hiding something that he doesn't want the world to see or be put in a position where he would have to explain any of it. As far as religion goes the whole campaign was and is still talking about one religion and one religion only. the muslim religion. Because ISIS are Muslims. Trump pointed the finger in a blanket effect that all Muslims are bad. Hillary and Obama refused to take that route and are very protective of all the good Muslims in this world. And I totally agree with them. Hillary made a huge mistake using a private email server. She should have never done it is true. And she has apoligized for it many times over already and the FBI has cleared her twice already. Maybe you and many others refuse to accept her apology or the FBI's decision. I and many others across this country do accept both. I am part of the LGBT community. I have had to live that reality for 56 years already and I have seen and felt alot of the very bad stuff in this country the United States of America on a very personal level. The Obamas the Bidens and Hillary Clinton had our backs and for the first time in years. I began to feel safe in this country as a Gay American. I nolonger feel safe I really don't.. Donald Trump and Mike Pence don't even know me and I already know they don't like me and many other minorities as well feel the same. I voted for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine they believed in unity of all Gods people. And so do I. I did not pick the lesser of two evils I was proud to vote for the Clinton Kaine ticket. I am at a total loss now a crossroads of sorts. As I good person that I am feel I should give Trump a chance now that he is our President to show me that he can be a better person. Then all the terrible things he said on the campaign trail it is to early to tell yet. But I am a patient man

Hillary Clinton was part of a criminal family that are bought and sold for by arms dealers. They aren't nice people. It's kind of two faced to say you want the love and hugs that they give you to your face, when you don't mind the killings that go on behind your back to someone else.

I think of the crooks on offer, trump is a far more honest crook. he wheels, he deals, he spouts opinions that will get him votes and so does clinton. But I don't feel trump actively gets innocent people killed by leaking their information, I don't feel trump has a conflict of interest when leading the country, he's not bought and paid for, he's his own man. And that's a damn good start really. Far ahead of Clinton. He also came in well under cost, which is nice in the US' current financial state. Coming in below budget would be good for the soul over there right now.

I don't think anyone particularly loves trump. I just think they can tell he's fifty zillion times better than slimeball clinton.

Good people do not choose a sexually predatory racist, who was endorsed by the KKK to be the face of their nation. Period.

There are no circumstances that justify hate, and we can't pretend this election has not shown us about just how vile and hateful some of the people that surround us are. Even if they cannot admit it to themselves.
