Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I feel crushed by the state of our world. I know that there are so many good people out there, but evil feels so strong. I worry about LGBT people who are being killed around the world. I am haunted by thoughts about starvation, war, abuse, racism, exploitation, rejection, betrayal, violence, and corruption. I don't know what to do about it. I feel hopeless and useless. I know I can't help everyone, but I want to so desperatly. I can't even help myself. My moods have been terrible the past couple of weeks. I was just hoping someone on here might understand.
thanks <3

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

First make sure you help yourself. Then worry about other people.
If you believe in prayer, then by all means say prayers. (I do, and I do.)
I try to focus on things I can control. Holding a door open for somebody who is tired may not end wars, but it makes their day a bit nicer. Fighting depression or any other mental illness is hard. I appreciate kind words from strangers when I am down, so I try to be encouraging with people I meet in the community even if I do not really know them.
And yes, watching less news can really help. Besides, when was the last time a major network news covered an event that really impacted your life, and by that I mean it left you in a better position for having watched it.
Gentle hugs
you are each blessings in this world :) thank you for your kindness (and hugs!)
The human world has become very polarized.
There is someone who has said that there's an increasing number of people doing really nasty stuff in the world. Fortunately, there's also an Exponential Increase in the number of people doing amazing and revolutionary stuff.
How I deal with it is by being careful what I put in my mind.
I seem to have an autoimmune condition, so it is important to be careful what I put in my body. That doesn't feel like a hardship. I prefer to support my body in feeling ok.
Like many here I'm careful about what media I consume, whether it's news, violent movies, or derogatory humor. George Carlin was something of a philosopher and a cultural observer. I've often found it heartening listening to him.
Please check in with your own intuition before doing something, so you make sure it's nourishing for you. If you need to, maybe find ways to grow in trusting your own intuition and what empowers you as someone who has a unique purpose in the world.
There are a lot of people operating from fear. Please try to keep those people at arms length as much as possible. Steer clear whenever you can. Only engage when necessary, and reduce their impact on you.
Find those who are empowered themselves and lift up those around them - even if it's only in writing, the arts, or some other endeavor. Use their example to create different possibilities in your mind. Guard your tender heart like it's a precious child.
Those are my suggestions for now .... Keeping you in my thoughts.
