When you're really down, do you tend to revert into a shell away from everyone, or do you feel the need to let it all out?

I hide, I don't want my kids or people I know to see me when I'm really down. I think I feel incompetent when someone sees me the way I have been feeling for about 3 days now.

I don't answer the phone or call anyone. I don't go out and most times don't even get out of bed. I take sleeping pills so that I can basically sleep through the depression. I've been doing this for a long time which makes me even more depressed.

Yeah, it does bother me...I get even more upset, because they all say the understand what you are going through, and how the hell do they know, when I don't even know what i'm going through. So, I withdraw.

Turn into myself where no one can come in....

I withdraw but since I have children that can be tough so usually I just get moody or grouchy and it comes out towards everyone in the house. This is one of the main things that bothers my husband.

Yes, at times I find myself easily choosing to revert into a shell away from everyone. And for the other times, I let it out in song....all that I feel or think at the time comes out best when I sing about it and its like and automatic cleanse for me. I always ...ALWAYS get lifted out of that shell and then my singing becomes songs of Praises..Thanks..Love and the Good I have to look forward to.

I too withdraw and try to block the world out.

yep...have been that way sence jr high at least. Lost alot of friends that way as i kept pushing them away when i felt depressed! also found that it created worse problems to just keep it all bottled up inside as it doesnt go away if you do so but just builds up in pressure until you release it one way or the other! im trying to learn to let it out but its not easy..not many people in my life understand depression or what im going through! thank god for this site!
