Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
1. Try to work the rational side to recognize this was a great accomplishment and compliment yourself.
2. Consider other tasks which help people and make an impact upon the world.
I find that often I enjoy the journey and the struggle the most because I’m still looking forward to something. I also found that when I receive gifts, I’ll hold onto them for weeks because I know once I open them, the excitement and curiosity is gone.
After you’ve achieved whatever it is your after, all that’s left is gratitude. The initial excitement dies down and all you have left are memories. Making sure to recite gratitude versus during those times are important.
When it’s all over, instead of thinking damn where’d all the excitement go? I try to think “wow I really did that”. And thank god that it was an experience I was able to have, even if the happiness only lasted a second. Then, plan something else to look forward to. Set different goals and make sure to enjoy the journey.
