Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I have talked a lot in therapy and posted here about some people who have caused me a lot of stress and anxiety. When I stopped assosciating with my parents and brother a lot, because my brother is physically violent and dangerous, this older couple invited me to their home on holidays and such, and said that they were providing a "safe space." It's been anything but. There have been men there who act basically like "grab the P." And some of them wouldn't keep their hands off of me. One of them has been obsessed with me for like a decade. It's been awful. I've always had issues with setting and maintaining boundaries, and have a tendency to get involved with and manipulated by people.
This couple never took responsibility for anything, always promising that things would get better, etc. Never did. When I said that I would not date their friend, I got the silent treatment for almost this whole past year. My calls and texts were completely ignored, including my invitation to a Christmas concert last week. There has been tension, fights and arguments and it has been ongoing. I was not invited to Christmas dinner this year. Day before New Year's Eve, there was one of their usual get-togethers, and I was dreading it in the pit of my stomach. I said I had a cold and didn't go. That was true. I could have gone, but really was not comfortable at all.
So what happens? The very following day-New Year's Eve, after being completely ignored and treated like garbage when in their presence, I get this long, gushy, overly-emotional voicemail saying "how much they care about and appreciate me." It was really long. For some reason, this really put me off, I found it incredibly offensive. Lately, I have been hearing from people from the past, old boyfriends that were total assholes, friend requesting me. This type of thing, and it always goes this same way-they tell me how great I am and how much I am appreciated. This happened in my domestic violence situation too. I ignored the message, not sure if I would respond, so I gave it a few hours, and then I got ANOTHER text message, saying "Happy New year". That one I answered, but I'm thinking "Why?" It just felt like this obvious attempt to keep me from leaving.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

I have toys. So the ones I have not used or need any more, are gone in the trash. One of my toys is just a regular hand held massager with an attachment. The other is a real insertable toy. This morning I ordered a new toy with attachments. It is small and has a brush like attachment and the other looks like a rose with a tiny tongue. I'll get it in about 2 weeks. Rechargable and...

I can relate. I have a similar story.
It's from 35yrs ago, But still buggin the hell out of me. 40 yrs ago met these people, They had a son and daughter, their had Down Syndrome, And doesn't have a little brother (I was 5 at the time, So, didn't know what was going on) As I got older, He started Making me feel uncomfortable, In my teenage years.
His father use to come over from time to time (their son's name is Keith) Keith say's this about this, Keith say's that about that, And God help You if it was wrong (in his mind) His dad would bring him over. he's actually lunged at me, If his father wasn't there to stop him he would have hurt me. And if I liked something he didn't, same thing would happen. and would get sone incoherent jibbrish.
Flash forward, I play guitar (have been for about 30 years) And his sister, her and I have been friends on Facebook for like 10 Year's, And just about three year's ago it was my Birthday, No Happy Birthday David, I got "CAN HE POST" And I haven't heard from her since.
Anyway, Now, I'm afraid to post, cause her brother will get upset, He knows he's older then me, and think's He's supposed to know how to do thing's But, I shouldn't, He has to show me.
Much like You, The family is avoiding me. They have PTSD and won't talk about it.....I will
Hell, we've never gotten a Christmas card from them, Maybey one year, that was like 20 year's ago though.
