Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

At some point I thought I was talking lol..
I felt the same.. Sometimes still do.. But i realised my emptiness was 'the purpose of life' for some people its living your life the way you want.. I.e. drinking partying having 'fun'
Whereas all those always sount wrong to me..
Its what your meaning of life is, you gotta find it then reach out to it..
My one was religion.. Going back to a simpler life doesnt mean going backwards..
Maybe having a degree nd getting a good job then a good house nd car nd whatever, materialistic things doesnt bring happiness but in my opinion God does.
I feel the exact same way...there is no rational reason for me to be depressed...but I am...and that is hard to deal with personally...right now I don't even feel like God can help me...and that's really bad for me...because I have a strong faith in my God...but not when I'm feeling the way I've been feeling for the majority of the last year...I just can's seem to get over this...
GOOD LUCK...I hope for your sake and others like us you find some answers soon!
Yes, it's just a chemical imbalance in the brain.
Before you jump on the meds bandwagon, have you tried exercise?
And yes, koolman, I am a marathon runner. You're right, the exercise helps, sometimes. But it's not a cure. I have been taking a break since my last race but it might be a good idea to start really working out again.
1. Situational - your life sucks in a multitude of ways - pain, suffering, finances, marriage on the rocks or gone.
2. Brain imbalance - chemicals don't work properly for unknown reasons.
My thought is you are never going to get to the bottom of this if you don't tell your therapist the truth. You seem to feel you don't have the first type, although you may be blocking or suppressing some bad stuff from yourself. But the second type - sounds like it is time to confess.
The longer you wait to get on Anti-depressants, the longer it will take to recover. So I urge you to confess and be real. You are only hurting yourself.
And if you think people will look down on you if they find out you are depressed, or criticize you because you have no reason to be depressed, well, just put them on ignore. Do what it takes to get back on the road to feeling better, ok?
