friendly people. You don't have to talk if you don't want to.

Nothing to be afraid of hun, you called and they recommended at time for you to go, they would probably know the group of people that go to which meetings and feel that this is the time you would feel most comfortable. You don't need to do anything but show up. Other people talk, you don't have to. Just take it slow. If you feel uncomfortable you can always leave, but you never know - you might make a connection with this "crowd". It is definately worth a try - good luck.

Hi Stefunny. I'm Tonyia and also a recovering alcoholic of 24 yrs. There are a lot of friendly people at AA meetings. You can talk and share if you want to or you can just sit there and soak up what others are saying. There is really no pressure at all. It is a spiritual based program, but they don't try to shove God down your throat. It is a God as you understand him. Before getting to AA, I was married to a man whose parents were both preachers and they had me convinced that I was going to hell, so I figured I would have fun getting there. To say the least I was afraid of "God" when I got to the program. But as I got more familiar with it all, the more comfortable I became with God as my "Higher Power". Hope this has helped and hope you like coffee, because there is plenty to be had at an aa meeting.

thanks all, I was hoping it would be like church but with a more conversational attitude. I did call and ask what meeting should I go to since I'm 22 and they said the 10pm one. I just hope there is at least one girl my age I can latch on to
