Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Depression can and does tend to effect all aspects of your life, and the Rule of Thumb tends to be, "the harder things get hit harder". This makes sense, as when your depressed it takes a ton of Will, Want To, and Energy to get the things done that need done....like classes at University. Just getting out of bed, dressed and ready to leave your room can be overwhelming. You're not alone, this happens to many people all over the world everyday. The good news is with work and management it can be fixed.
If your not under the care of a Psychiatrist yet, I would advise seeing one as soon as possible so that you can figure out exactly what is going on and what you need to do to help yourself become stable again. Whether this be medication, or different types of Therapy, you'll have to do the work and continue to do the work to get back to Stable.
As for University classes, it sounds like it might be a good idea to talk to a Counselor at your University and perhaps take incompletes on your current classes due to medical illness. Its not the end of the world to be on a slightly different graduation schedule. Your brain, your parents, your friends may all tell you that, and they mean well, but they are not living in your body, that is exhausted and fatigued and ready to give out. They are not living in your brain with all of the anxiousness and depression and negative and self-deprecating thoughts. You can catch up courses when your feeling better by doing Summer School or other ways.
Right now the most important thing is your mental health, getting healthy and stable is the most important thing for you. I hope that you'll find someone to help you learn coping skills to deal with these issues, so that you can get back to yourself. In the meantime sometimes you just have to "Fake it to Make it" until you get the help you need. Take care.
