Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Now, I have never been on this type of a group before, I started off in the Tinnitus Group and received much support and help. I made some very dear friends on there, and also had to report someone who was totally offensive. Find those in all groups.
Now I met LMT though a mutual friend. I messaged her and told her about how very depressed I had become. I asked her about the Depression Group and that I was not so sure I could open up to others that I did not know. She suggested to give it a try, that she felt this was a great group, so I posted about my problems and worries about my daughter and my depression. The first person that came on here was LMT. She gave her opinion and made me feel welcome. And after that, she answered when she couid give some information that she thought that she could add. So what is wrong with that? I have seen her try to answer others on here, taking time from a very busy day and when she wasn't feeling very well herself.
She has given many many hours to this group, and cares very much.
So to say you wish to quit this group and DS is up to you, but I think, it is a shame to go by what was said here. We all are guilty of answering friends, as well as just giving a hug, as in my case, I do not know many of you, and sometimes I just am not sure what to say, as I feel others can do better, so I give that hug?
Can we just agree to do the very best we can? I have been totally ignored by some on here, but you know, we all have days we can give of ourselves a bit easier than others. It would be a real shame to leave this group, we all need each other here. If we leave, then there is less support all around. If we all just try to do our best and hold on to each other, this in my newbie opinion, it can work. Please give it some thought.

And now back to this thread..
Unfortunately I look at the future and can not see any of the same opportunities now or in the future. Unfortunately the best part of my life was 40 to 50 years ago when there were unlimited possibilities, and I let them slip by. I was so screwed up back then, I lived in fear, fear of everything, girls, getting hurt in sports, fear of making mistakes (and the biggest mistake of all was not making the mistakes). I am now, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically, pretty close to where I should have been in my teens.
I spent most of my first year of life in an orphanage, and came out with what I now know is Reactive Attachment Disorder and a Schizoid personality. Then to make matters worse I was adopted by a very over bearing, controlling, mother who controlled every aspect of my life and made me terrified of girls. She also didn't let me to do much, because she was afraid I would get hurt.
My father was pretty much "there" physically, but most of the times I can remember being with him, was when we were working (we lived on a small ranch). He would tell me to do something and then get mad because I didn't do it like he wanted it done (even though he wouldn't tell me how he wanted it done). I got so I was afraid to do anything because I knew I was going to screw it up.
So that is what I have managed to overcome at least partially in the 63 (almost 64) years since. I still have a long way to go unfortunately.
Anyway, I hate living in the past but, I cannot see anything better in the future... "

It WAS my heart but since its demise I don't have one. So here I sit waiting for my brain to die.
Has anyone ever told you 'you're too nice'? That's because you just might be! Don't take it the wrong way, kindness is sorely lacking in the world and no act of kindness, however big or small, is ever wasted. But sometimes you have to stick up for yourself and not let others take you for granted! Just find that happy balance between your kind heart and a stern hand. Use your kindness to help and teach others and you will be just fine
