Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
What happiness is to me is feeling content with your situation and yourself, wanting to be alive, and feeling at least somewhat joyful.
I don't know exactly what it would take for me to feel 'happy,' but I know it would probably take the following things and more: being pretty and thin, being even more affable, being 'successful,' learning to love myself for who I am, finding some sort of meaning in my life, finding some leisurely hobbies that I enjoy doing, and being content with myself and my situation.
Meandthebeast, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your reply to my topic, I don't know TRIGGER, and I hope my reply to your topic is as sufficient as yours was to my topic. I hope we'll both be able to feel happy for more than a day or two soon. I noticed that your 'smiley' face is on the saddest option possible for this site, and I hope that you'll soon feel well enough to move it to the happiest face.
Good luck, and many hugs to you
I no longer felt dirty. I no longer hurt inside.I felt alive and free.
It was the equivalent to stepping out of a cave that I had been trapped in for a very long time.
The air was sweeter. The music was better. Everything was brighter and clearer.
I no longer wanted to die. I think that is the biggest part. I didn't want to die.

there are parts of my life where I am happy and I do think its important to count our blessings... I found my soulmate which I am extremely happy about... I live in a nice house in a safe neighbourhood.... I have my physical health.. I have a supportive family and friends I love and who love me back... these things mean very little when I am really low... but that is becoming less and less
for me its like coming out to sunshine after being caged by darkness and pain..and I totally agree with WallyBear... I would no longer have the urge to kill myself and that is a massive part of it
