Been fighting depression for longer than I care to remember. Take meds, seen counselors, have done hypnosis, and have tried just about everything I can. Things got really bad when I went through an unexpected ugly divorce when my ex cheated on my with my best friend but I somehow got through it. That was almost 5 years ago. I fought my way back after he took everything from me and pretty much destroyed my life. I was pregnant with his 3rd child at the time and that was the only reason I am alive today. With a lot of help I got to an okay point in my life. I got my job back, wasn't rich but was lived okay. Then I met someone and for 2 years we had what I thought was a good relationship. He and his kids moved in with me and my kids (whom I share custody with) and they lived with us for a year. At the time this new guy was going to school and not working so I was supporting them but I was okay with that because we were supposed to eventually be married. Then the bottom fell out of my world again. My ex filed for custody of the third child who was now 3 years old and he had barely had any contact with her, I was fired from my job due to what I consider office politics and me being in the wrong place at the wrong time, my ex was also forcing me out of the house that we still co-owned together although he didn't pay anything toward it for years and when all this happened my boyfriend moved back to his home state giving me a week notice. It has been almost a year now and I am now living at my parents home after being forced out of our house that is now being short sold, I am still unemployeed (due to my anxiety attacks and depression that have gotten in the way of me even applying for a job. I am now on food stamps. My kids still go to school in their old neighborhood so every other week I have to drive them an hour to and from school everyday. There is so much more to this horrible tale but it would take a year to even tell so I'll skip it. Basically, I am at my wits end. I have nothing left. I am not actively suicidal but if I were to die right now I would welcome it. I am alive ONLY because I could never hurt my kids that way. In the past when I have gone through tough times, I was able to find my way to something to hold on to. But this time I haven't been able to do that. I simply have no hope. Life is not just meaningless but painful. I know I am disappointing my family and my kids which just makes me feel worse. I pray constantly but it doesn't seem to help. I am losing faith that things will ever get better. I went from a combined 80 thousand dollar income, good husband, 2.5 kids, white picket fence, seemingly good life to being on food stamps, homeless, losing half my kids lives with me and unemployeed. I know I sound like I'm feeling sorry for myself and I probably am but for the last year almost everything that can go wrong has and I don't see an end in sight. On top of everything else I have gained 60 pounds and feel like crap about myself. I so desperately want to just go to sleep and never wake up. My life is a mess and I hate it. I was a straight A student all through school even college and worked hard to set myself in the life that I wanted. And now at the age of 43 none of that matters anymore. I have creditor banging down the door but I don't even have the money to file for bankruptcy. I literally have no money whatsoever except for the child support which pays just enough for gas to take my kids to school and back. But enough. I'm desperate and I don't know what to do. Help me... anyone.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

You say you would never hurt your kids by killing yourself, but I know from personal experience that when you are this depressed, it's all too easy to be careless and do something by accident that is dangerous. Please, please, please take care of yourself. Find that sliding scale therapist and get yourself some help.

It's not true you have nothing left. You have children, your parents, a roof over your head, and food. It may not be a lot to you, but these are positive things to be grateful for. If you keep focusing on the positive it might improve your mood a little instead of constantly focusing on how much you have lost.
I know it feels like it will never get better, but these problems do not have to be permanent. There are plenty of people who deal with variety of serious that are able to overcome them in the end.
Are you able to get on some kind of medical assistance or medicaid so you can get help for your depression and anxiety so you can start down the road of healing to get back on your feet?
You are obviously a very intelligent woman and a hard worker. You have what it takes to overcome these obstacles. Focus on tackling one issue at a time.
You say you are unhappy with your weight? How about going for a walk each day? I started walking every day for 45 minutes to an hour each day and it helped with my anxiety and depression. As a side bonus, I have also lost weight. There is help and hope for you out there. Don't give up.
For about 15 of those 22 years, I lived with no hope. Every day was the same. Wake up, go to work, get paid every two weeks, and know that she had already spent more than twice what I could earn.
15 years ago, I ended up where you seem to be now. I had less than nothing, she and the kids left, and there I was.
Somewhere in all of that I got on anti depressants, attempted suicide, and discovered Al Anon. Five years ago, I fell into DS. I got help.
I don't go it alone, and you do not have to either. I am glad you shared your story. It reminds me of the place from which I came. I have a life today with a woman who loves me; my dreams come true every day, and I get to be here to see people like you "get it", and start the long climb back to serenity. Some of them tell me that I help. This is why I stay. If someone, even one, is helped by my presence here, then it is worth typing my fingers to the bone, and praying callouses on my knees.
Peace Be With You. Things will get better!!!
